Fake Love created a one-of-a-kind video capture experience for Cartier’s Panthere Studio NYC event. The weekend-long activation celebrated the relaunch of the iconic Panthere watch. Bringing together digital fabrication, generative computer graphics, and animated lighting, the result was a mesmerizing, immersive kaleidoscope of gold.
The installation took the form of a black enclosure, lined with spiraling gold panels and lines of animated lights. An 85″ screen displaying watch-link inspired animation was reflected on every panel. Sensors detected the guest stepping into the experience, which triggered dynamic, real-time video animation as well as lighting patterns. Guests used an all-in-one video booth that automatically edited the footage and emailed it to the guests.
As part of a small, nimble team, I acted as Technical Director, Lighting Designer, and Digital Artist. As Technical Director, I managed the video capture, fabrication, and LED integration vendors. Additionally, I created the responsive, generative video as well as programming the lighting animations.
