These are studies of computational design techniques for animation and 3D modeling. The animations are one- or two-day studies focused on using Python scripting in Maya to generate geometry and keyframed effects. There are experiments in keyframing scale and rotation, creating repeating elements, and even randomly extruding polygon faces to imitate a spiky seed pod.
Python also pairs nicely with Grasshopper and Rhino to create complex surfaces that retain a relation to the whole.
Materialized in resin, these forms can be strikingly organic and otherworldly.
